J.S. Bach: Partita No 1 in C minor

Rachmaninov: Correlli Variations

Chopin: Etudes Op10, a selction

Ravel: Gaspard de la Nuit

James won both the Liszt Prize and the McCallam Prize for the Most Promising Young Pianist in the Piano Section of the Royal Overseas League Competition in 2005.  The recipient of several prestigious scholarships, James has performed throughout the UK and abroad.

English songs by Britten, Purcell, Bush, Delius, Gibbs and Dunhill.  

Songs by Schubert, Weber, Strauss, Rachmaninov and Duparc. 

 Arias by Handel and Bizet.  Madrigals by Rodrigo.

Some of the adjectives used to describe this prize-winning soprano: magnificent, compelling and entertaining.  Her singing has been described as "sensational" and "technically brilliant".  In April 2007 Laura won the song prize at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards and shortly after, the Lies Askonas Prize.  Her wide-ranging repertoire embraces song, opera and oratorio, as reflected in her programme.

Rivoli String Quartet

Haydn:  String Quartet Op. 54 No.2

Janacek:  String Quartet No. 2 ('Intimate Letters')

Schubert:  String Quartet in A minor ('Rosamunde')

Formed in 1999 the Rivolis have immersed themselves in the quartet repertoire, coached by eminent chamber musicians including members of the Endellion, Sorrel and Lindsay Quartets.  They recently won the prestigious Prix Ravel.  They play a programme of mature works written in the composers' last years.

The Powell Trio was formed in 2005 by outstanding graduates of the Royal Northern College of Music.  They are currently Young Artists in Residence at Salford University.  Between them they have performed in venues across the UK and Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall and Wigmore Hall.

Formed of  distinguished soloists and chamber musicians, the Nephele Ensemble is primarily a flute quartet.  In addition to their quartet engagements, they regularly perform with invited artists.  Together wit William Vann they offer us an unusual and exciting programme.
