Originally from Buhl, Idaho, KALINDA BROWN graduated in 2005 with
a Professional Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from the University of
Notre Dame. She took a job with Torti Gallas and Partners in Silver
Spring, Maryland and worked on a variety of architectural projects
ranging from high rise mixed-use buildings, low rise apartment
buildings, and other transit oriented developments around the
Washington, DC area. She then transferred to the planning segment where,
among other New Urban ventures, she worked with a team of city
officials, architects, landscape designers, traffic engineers, and
transit specialists to devlop a Master Plan for Crystal City, Virginia.
The Master Plan included designs to humanize Jefferson Davis Highway,
transit plans, balancing residential, commercial, and retail to provide
a live-work environment, and strategies to transfer development rights
and adjust public rights of way to provide a network of public parks
and recreational areas.
She then took a job with McCrery Architects in Washington, DC
where she worked on various civic architecture projects, private
residences, and an urban plan for an area near the new baseball stadium
before returning to Notre Dame for her Masters of Architectural Design
and Urbanism. |
