Students will be issued textbooks needed for all their classes. During the first three days of the school year all students will come to the library with their Social Studies class to be issued books. If a student is not enrolled in a social studies class, they should come to the library during free time to pick up their books. There are many class changes during the first few weeks of school, so if a student finds they have been issued textbooks they do not need, they should bring them back to the library and new ones will be checked out to them. If a student drops a class, he/she is expected to return the textbook for that class immediately. All semester course textbooks are due the last day of the semester. All other textbooks are due by 12:00 p.m. the last day of the current school year.
Students are required to fill out a Textbook Contract when their textbooks are issued. Completing the contract ensures that the student agrees that they will be responsible for the care of the textbooks they have been issued. (See Student Responsibilities)
Students are responsible for damages (beyond normal wear and tear) that may occur to textbooks while they are checked out to them. AVOID contact between books and food, liquids, puppies and young siblings. The condition of your books are YOUR responsibility. Any damages caused by the above, as well as any writing or drawing in, on, or around the edges of the book is NOT considered "normal" wear. It is considered intentional damage and students will be charged. Your name, written neatly once in the authorized location, is the ONLY exception (if a student must doodle, they should keep a piece of paper inside just for that purpose).
Each textbook is checked when returned and every effort is made to record all damages. It is strongly advised that students inspect their books and fill out a Textbook Condition Form for each textbook that is checked out to them. This is for their protection so they will not be charged for damages that may have been missed. These forms MUST be returned to the library within 5 days after having checked out the textbook. If it is noticed that a textbook needs repair, it is advised that the student does not attempt to repair the damage. It will cause more severe damage, resulting in increased charges. Bring textbooks in need of repair to the library. They will be repaired properly and returned when completed.
Students must have their Student IDs with them when returning textbooks. All covers, loose papers and post-it notes must be removed before textbooks are returned.
Important
At the end of the school year, any books that have not been returned will be marked as lost and students will be billed. Any unpaid fees or fines will be carried over to the next school year. Students will not be able to check out any mateials until all obligations have been met. Seniors owing books or fines will not receive their diplomas until all obligations have been fulfilled. |
