Overdues and Fines

Overdue Books
 
It is expected that students return checked out materials on or before the day they are due.   If books are needed for a longer period of time, it is recommended that students stop by the library to get those items renewed.  If a due date is missed, an overdue notice will be sent to the student.  A student may receive up to 3 notices:
  1. 1st Notice  -- the day after the book is due
  2. 2nd notice -- 7 days after the book is due
  3. 3rd notice -- 14 days after the book is due
These notices are normally delivered to the student's 2nd period class.  If a student is in a class such as Phyical Education where delivering the notice is difficult, it will be delivered to another class sometime during the day.
 
Fine Structure
 
Regular Library Materials
Fines are charged at $.20 for every school day that they are late.  Fines do not accumulate over weekends and holidays.
 
Overnight Textbooks
Fines are charged at $1.00 for every school day that they are late.  Fines do not accumulate over weekends and holidays.
 
Students will be billed for all materials that are not returned by the end of the year. 
 
  Damaged Book Fees
 
Type of Damage  Minimum Fine (May be Higher)
 Damaged or  Ripped Cover  $5.00 (HC) and $3.00 (PB)
 Extremely dirty  $5.00 - $10.00 (student has option to clear)
 Doodling or markings in ink  $3.00 - $5.00 per page (doubled if offensive)
 Doodling or markings in pencil  $2.00 per page (doubled if offensive)
 Major water or food damage/mold  Cost of book
 Minor water or food damage  $10.00 to 1/2 cost of book
 Missing barcode  $5.00
 Missing pages  Cost of book
 Torn pages  $2.00 per page
 Wrinkled pages  $2.00 per page
 Ripped binding  $5.00 (HC) and $3.00 (PB)
 Damages requiring rebinding  $15.00
 Writing on book edges  $3.00
 Damages beyond repair  Cost of book
