May I Please Speak?
Three Spoons Bake Sale and Spooning Booth
Green Programs Initiative Design Contest!
ENROLLMENT DEADLINE EXTENDED to March 22nd!
Part of the new CUArts Green Scene, sponsored by The Gatsby Charitable Foundation
CALL for GREEN VISUAL ARTISTS!
NOMADS wants YOU to build and
design a new box for our NOMADS “Greens Programs Initiative”. The Green
Programs Initiative is a sustainable development program in which
NOMADS reuses theater playbills over multiple performances during the
run of a production. Audiences are encouraged to recycle their
playbills by returning them to a designated box at the end of the
performance.
The box is a key component of our green initiative, which is why we are reaching out visual artists/architects/creative people to help us redesign and re-imagine this box, as currently we have been using makeshift decorated cardboard boxes to hold these recycled programs (photos of which are visible on our website).
This design commission is being sponsored by the CUArts Gatsby Charitable Foundation’s “Green Scene” grant. (That mean's it's FREE for artists to participate!) Each commission will be publicly displayed in Lerner Hall, and students and passersby will vote on which design is his or her favorite. After voting has closed, the design with the most votes will become the official NOMADS Green Programs Initiative box.
The winning box will then be featured at every NOMADS production, and the artist will be given credit whenever the box is being used or is on display. If you are a creative individual with an interest in green sustainability, we want to talk to you.
Intrigued?
E-Mail Samantha at nomads.columbia@gmail.com by MARCH 22nd to enroll in this progressive opportunity! More information to be provided after confirmed artists accept this commission.

NOMADS PlayPen: NOMADS PlayPen develops new plays/and or musicals by promising Columbia University playwrights and composers. Weekly workshops provide playwrights a safe place to cultivate their works. The play development series will culminate with a staged reading of the piece, allowing the dramatist's work to be presented for an audience.Jacob Rice
