Thompson, Arthur J.: LaPorte Herald-Argus, LaPorte Indiana -- Arthur J. Thompson, 66, of 511 Jackson Street, died at 1 p.m. yesterday at his home. He was born Dec 7, 1894 in Noble Township, Elkhart county, to C.O. and Olive Thompson and had lived in LaPorte for the past six years, coming here from South Carolina. Mr. Thompson was the owner and operator of the Bendix Laundry & Dry Cleaning Co. He was married June 9, 1946 to Frances Shanks at Leaksville, NC. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Lowell Gamble, Minneapolis, Minn; two sisters, Mrs. George Easterday, South Bend and Mrs. J.W. Kritz, Fort Lauderdale, Fla; one brother, H.L. Thompson, Casper, Wyo and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Haverstock Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur E. Powell officiating. Burial will be in Cosperville cemetery near Ligonier, Indiana. Friends may call at the Haverstock Chapel from tonight and until time of services. -submitted by Karen Zack |
