Course objectives

  1. Understand the concepts of networking.
  2. Discover how theoretical principles are implemented in practice
  3. Use state of the art tools that will help comprehension of a network, its administration and maintenance
  4. Improve written and presentation skills

  5. Application layer programming
  6. Wireless networks
  7. Application development using .NET
  8. Router Configuration

Assignments

1.  [20%] Homework assignments

  • 7% for 7 textbook assignments
  • 13% for 3 .NET assignments

2. [60%] Quizzes (3)

  • Written questions that cover topics covered in the labs, in the lectures and in the book.
  • The quiz topics and dates are provided in the course schedule

3. [10% for ECE597A and 20% for ECE697A] Final Project 

  • Each group (3 students) will be required to develop an application using the .NET platform
  • Programming skills in C# language are required for the project

4. [10% for ECE597A] Presentation 

  • Each group will be required to work on a specific wireless networking related topic.
  • Present group project in class during the last two weeks of the semester

Grading policy: Assignments will be uploaded to the class web site by the posted deadline (dates are provided in the course schedule).  One day late we will take 20% off the grade, two days late 40%, and no credit will be given to assignments that are more than two days late
