Clare Smale

With 13 years of successful teaching and management experience in schools, Clare is currently a leadership and personal development coach and lead educational consultant for Inspired 2 Learn .

Clare began her career teaching Geography and PE in a community school in South Somerset and in 1991 she took part in a three-week study tour of Japan, having won a competition in the TES. Clare then became Head of Geography in a Wiltshire school for five years, followed by Head of Humanities at Hayesfield School Technology College in Bath. Throughout her teaching career Clare has been heavily involved in mentoring NTs and NQTs was seconded to the University of Bath as PGCE subject didactics tutor for Geography. Clare was the founder and Publishing Editor of Teaching Expertise (TEx) magazine from 2002 - 2006. This innovative magazine was packed with creative and practical learning and teaching ideas, including accelerated learning, NLP in the classroom, multiple intelligences, restorative justice, work-life balance and managing teams. Teaching Expertise was published by Clare for three years with subscribers worldwide, before it was sold to Electric Word PLC in 2006.

Clare is skilled in creating strategies for personal change through coaching and NLP techniques, particularly for senior leaders and those aspiring to leadership posts. Clare's passion is for coaching and NLP. She is an NLP Master Practitioner and trainer and  she has a Level 7 Diploma in Leadership Mentoring and Executive Coaching (ILM).  She has been a judge for National Teaching Awards (West Panel) for four years. Clare designs, delivers and assesses CMI leadership and management programmes and ILM coaching awards.
