Sustainable Low Cost Housing in Rwanda "Shelter is one of humankinds most basic needs, yet 1 in 3 of the worlds children do not have adequate shelter." Global Issues
Consider putting your own design and construction ideas to invaluable use in one of the world’s poorest countries. Imagine being part of the construction team in building your design!
Engineers, Architects, Environmentalists, Builders, Relief Workers, etc are encouraged to submit their innovative design and / or construction ideas for low cost housing in developing countries. Your submission should address issues such as sustainable technology, environmental awareness, improved health and living conditions, whilst also being mindful of costs: by driving down costs, more houses can be built and thus more people helped.
Winning entrants will be rewarded with a trip to Rwanda for 2 weeks in 2010, all expenses paid, where they will be part of the local construction team – a real work experience! They will also have the opportunity to explore this beautiful country - "the land of a thousand hills, and a million smiles!"
