We also protect the medical assistant's right to practice and promote effective and efficient health care delivery through optimal use of multi-skilled Certified Medical Assistants.
Letter From the President
It is with extreme sadness that I am posting the passing of Joanne Calabrese, A.A.S., CMA-AC(AAMA)
Joanne was a shining example of someone who gave selflessly to NJSMA. She served as State President 1981-1982 and for many, many years before and since. Until she fell ill in the past few years, I cannot remember a year that Joanne did not hold a position on the Board of Trustees; some years-more than one! Joanne held us to a high standard, only because she cared so much about the Society and wanted to make NJSMA and all of us better as a result.
Joanne was my mentor from the start; it was because of her strength, guidance and support that I rose to hold the office of NJSMA President 2003-2004 and she was my Installing Officer. No one could ask for a better teacher, leader and friend and I will miss her terribly.
So many of us have our stories of Joanne, and these memories will be with us always. I ask that you keep Joanne, her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they go through the difficult days ahead. I’m sure Joanne will be watching over us all from above.
