NIN - A social experiment

NIN - The Slip (free download)

This page was created as an experiment to show the record inudstries and mainstream media the true meaning a devout fan following, as well as encourage people to look beyond the confines of conventional media imposed by record labels. Trent gave us a free album (released through his website with no money put into PR), I think he deserves some free promotion in return.

The mission is simple: on June 24, at 5pm GMT, everyone who cares about what NIN are doing calls up their local police department, claiming that they have found a disk titled "Nine Inch Nails - The Slip" on their doorstep/bus station/cat's litter box etc. Those who want to go the extra mile should also include pictures of this CDR on their blogs. Since NIN fans span the globe, this should get some attention fairly quickly... and hopefully encourage other artists who care about their fans to explore alternative methods of distribution.

DO NOT, however, call 911. Look up your local police department number. Also, try not to draw too much outside attention to this event until the day of. If you don't care about the band, please  don't screw this up for the rest of us.
