There are a wide range of unusual earring designs, these are commonly known as: Ear cuffs, slave earrings, ear wraps, cartilage earrings, Bajoran earrings, ear bands, elven earrings, and ear vines, some are designed for unpierced ears, others need a lobe piercing only.

An Ear Cuff, clips to the cartilage at the edge of the ear.  AKA  cartilage earrings.  No piercings are required. 

Slave earrings, a combination of an ear cuff joined to a regular earring by a chain. AKA Bajoran earrings. Only a lobe piercing is required.

Ear Wraps, these are secured to the ear by a wire that curves behind the outer ear. AKA ear bands. A clever hair design can completely hide the section of wire that pokes out the top front of the ear.  Piercings are not required.

Ear sweeps/vines thread through a lobe piercing, and have a design that sweeps upwards.  Just a lobe piercing is required.

Most of these items are worn on one ear only, therefore are sold individually, or as a set of regular earring and a cuff.

How to wear ear cuffs

Start at the top of the ear where the ear is thinner. Slide it down over the cartilage, while turning it towards the front.  The cuff will sit over the cartilage on the middle part of your ear.

Squeeze the ring section slightly if necessary to get a snug fit.

ec-356 Amethyst ear cuff

This ear cuff is made with a silver wire base, and lots of purple wire wrapping the whole piece.

The decorative section also has frosted amethyst wound on with the purple wire.

The decorative section measures approximately 7 cm across.

You need no piercings at all for this cuff. One piece single cuff.

ec-357 silver slave earring set

This is a slave earring set, that comprises a normal hook earring for one ear.

There is a matching hook earing for the other, but the second earring is attached to an ear cuff, by a piece of chain. 

The wire and chain are all silver, and the cracked glass beads are two tone brown and clear. 

The chain length is 10cm, and the dangly section of the earrings are 4.5cm. 

You need pieced earlobes to wear this set, but there is no need for a cartilage piercing.

This ear cuff is created using copper wire, with lots of black wire wrapped interestingly around it. 

There are all sorts of wraps and swirls in this piece.

The piece measures approximately 4cm in length, and is made for an unpierced ear.

I've created this piece using an orange crackle glass bead in the centre, and copper wire. 

The piece comprises of lots of open swirls. 

The centre bead is also wrapped with the copper wire.

The whole piece measures approximately 4.5cm across and is made for a non-pierced ear.
