A slave bracelet is also known as a handflower, or harem bracelet. Its origins seem to be a little unclear; there are some thoughts that they were originally used as a symbol of ownership. They are very common amongst belly dancers and known as harem jewellery. Slave bracelets have become a very popular fashion item, and are often associated with the Gothic and wiccan subculture.
