Walking
A while ago I walked from home in Southampton to Winchester along the Itchen Way. It was around 15 miles and took around five hours. I wondered if I could get to Winchester in a morning, how far could I get in a day?
The answer was a walk to Salisbury

It was 35 miles in all and took over 12 hours but was a very enjoyable walk (if a little hard on the feet!). As you can see, while there is a direct road from Southampton to Salisbury there is no direct footpath, hence I had to walk two sides of a triangle to get there, first up the Test Way then on to the Clarendon Way. The red line shows my walk, the pink line shows the train journey home.
