Registered daylily photo's representing how they display in the UK
Google For GardenersA Prague Spring seedling. The mother plant is an exceptionally strong and vigorous plant and has produced lots of seed and an extreme variety in the seedlings. I have purposely held back plants in pots simply due to lack of space but this one romped away as soon as it was given space in 2009. Details not yet recorded - not as UF as I like but hard to ignore.
2010

Curly Rosy Posy = Mother. Father unknown. 48x7 top branched. The mother plant is frankly a rather muddy pink and this seems to have carried through to a lot of the seedlings. This was an exception. Nice blend of warm yellow and pink with violet blue pencil wash eye.
Inspired by Mark King who used Golliwog as a parent plant for a lot of his crosses. Most of the resultant seedlings are beautiful garden worthy plants but this one stands out varying between quilled crispate and spatulate form. 34x7 top branched.
Introduction 2012 Vectis Joan Morey
Lady Neva = Mother. father unknown. 38x8. Petal width wider than I prefer but too showy to ignore. Extremely large maroon eye extends well into the petals. Possible introduction A Milady Greensleeves seedling and the only good one. Despite a beautiful mother, the seedlings are reliably unremarkable. This was an exception. Details not recorded yet - lovely dancing form.
A Fairy Summerbird seedling. Another good parent for UFs. this was always a pretty flower with a nice eye but in 2009 it showed grey blue banding.
FS3 - This has always been an outstanding flower with a true metallic to the grey purple colour which is hard to capture on camera - finally managed here.
A Moonlit Pirouette seedling. 32x8 quilled crispate. Parent plant often throws quilled offspring - this was the most extreme. Petals held forward and sepals straight out.
A TET! I am not really a fan of tet's although I appreciate their qualities so consequently have bred with only a few UF tet's. Paper Butterfly is the (very good) parent of this one. Details not recorded but extremely strong and vigorous.
Screaming Demon has been used extensively as a excellent parent plant and it's offspring are always interesting and many are garden worthy. Details of this one not recorded. Colour fugitive - varies between brick red to purple.
Selma Longlegs = Mother. Father unknown. 33x9. Classic Spider. I have used Bradley Bernard and Starman's Quest a lot as parents. I believe the latter to be the mother plant (is definitely 1 or the other but seedlings of these 2 got mixed) and the father is unknown. 33x8 Spider. Maroon eye extends well into the greyed purple petals.
Possible introduction - still trialling.
If I had to choose a favoutite this would 'probably' be it. Another great seedling from mother (I believe (see above)) Starman's Quest 40x10 good branching and long flowering period. Flowers different every time.
Introduced 2011 Vectis Jean Peirce
I have started to see the 1st flowering seedlings from this plant in 2009 including the clean purple spider (SQBB6012009)aside.
Another from above but believe Bradley Bernard this time is the mother plant and Screaming Demon the father. Do we need another red? Well, it's the best red in my garden and throws a fantastic shape everytime. 38x10 topbranched.
Introduced 2011 Vectis Nora Malone Another from above. Details not recorded.
One of the above batch which displays a nice blue violet wash eye zone. 43x7 topbranched. - still trialling. Blue colour as always appears fugitive. Plant resented being moved Same batch. Believed to be Bradley Bernard x Peacock Maiden. Details not recorded. Extremely vigorous plant. Beautiful and striking - still trialling.
Same batch. Details not yet recorded. A Screaming Demon seedling. Details not recorded. Not the cleanest colour but extreme twisting shape. More SDseedlings.jpg
A Yabba Dabba Doo seedling. Some nice seedlings from this parent plant although often the scapes drooped with the weight of large heavy blooms. 8x32 Father unknown.
YDD7 42x9.5
Firestorm - another lot of seedlings held back and almost thrown on the compost. This one managed to flower in a 5" pot. Striking staggered eye on a metallic copper brown base.
& now for something completely different...
A sci fi novel started December 2011
