About New Hampshire 2011 Samboree

      39th Annual New Hampshire Samboree

The New Hampshire Samboree was held at the North Haverhill, Fairgrounds the week of August 15 – 21,  2011.  A total of 148 rigs from tents to 40 foot motor homes enjoyed the activities led by the state staff and the New Hampshire chapters.

The theme of the Samboree was “The Wild Wild West of New Hampshire” and decorations presented the Good Sam Ranch.  Chapters decorated their raffle booth is some excellent demonstrations of the theme.  The theme parade found Good Samers dressed in all sorts of western garbs of cowboys and Indians as well as covered wagons.  The members put lots of hours in planning and preparations to present their chapter.

Thursday evening the entertainment was a Variety Show with our own New Hampshire Good Sams giving us their talents. The staff opened with the New Hampshire song with the NH Signs.  Ollie Rosenquist played his guitar, Dennis Laperle gave us some of his magic tricks, State director, Judy Botsford sang a couple of solos and one of the children sang a solo.  The Roadrunner Chapter did three short skits.

Friday evening everyone danced to the music of “Annie and the Orphans” and their oldies.  Saturday night the entertainment was the “Cardigan Mountain Tradition” playing bluegrass music. On Sunday morning the “Hyssong Family Trio” presented gospel music, vocally and brass instruments.

During the week games were enjoyed of Bean Bag Baseball, Goofy Golf, Cribbage, LCR, Card Bingo, Bingo, Bocce Tournament, Skillet Toss, Horseshoes and Horse racing.

The 4-H teens sold ice cream for everyone.  Other vendors were Anita and Walt Courtemanche selling hand made bags and toys; Gene St. Martin making Good Sam pins and insignia; the Graves with their Rolling Country Store; Bill Humphrey making canvas window shades for motor homes; and Campers World,  as well as our famous “Pie Lady” and local produce.
