 Home of Mt. Washington; highest peak in the Northeast, 6288', where the weather station on top of Mt. Washington has recorded some of the coldest and strongest temperatures and winds in the continental United States. A wind gust of 231mph was measured in April of 1934, which still remains a world record. Also, home of The Balsams, situated in Dixville Notch. Known for their midnight voting and being one of the first places to declare their results during the United States presidential elections. It is said that the winner at the Notch is usually the winner of the election. Population at the Notch is around 75. |
