Here is a letter I received regarding the news on August 14, line 25: Dear Lori,
the peackeeping drone is currently not in use by the UN. As we are a university and our main goal is educating the future generation of designers and conceptualists we have to project current developments into the future. Therefore some of the technologies that are developed right now are assumed to have technologically matured within the next years. On one hand it is save to assume that better batteries will be available and miniaturisation will continue. On the other hand it is also very save to assume that we will not change fundamental laws of physics :-)
The non lethal techniques used in this project are:
A) Long range acoustic devices (LRADs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Range_Acoustic_Device)
B) stroboscopic light signals for optic distraction
and most important: the fact that aggressors know that they are being watched and their activities are being documented. Additionally the drones provide recon for the peackeeping force.
