In this program we network with other Non-Governmental organizations and the government in order to better serve the beneficiaries. The program includes all of the following:
When natural disaster occurs in certain parts of the country, the districts that have been hard hit by floods find it impossible to resettle its inhabitants after recession. This being the case then, for example floods, the government together with the flood victims agree to settle uplands. But in other instances flood victims are resettled in their former places.
Breaking News: Don't Miss This - EARTHQUAKE KILLS 3 PEOPLE IN MALAWI
Latest news is that on 20th December 2009, the earthquake killed three people and displaced 5,000 others in Karonga District which is in the Northern Part of Malawi. The area is now declared a national disaster zone and it requires emmergency response.

All in all whether these floods victims are resettled in their former places or in new areas the needs that require the rehabilitation or redevelopment of these flood victims remain the same. These areas of need are:
I. To establish social economic initiatives which can easily be sustained. Things like bridges, agroconomics, agro forestry and in the fight against environmental degradation in the community. II. To sensitize the people of the community their duty to care for infrastructures established in the area for their own benefit. III. To mobilize communities and develop strategies on how to improve the social welfare and the standard of living of orphans are vulnerable groups who are victims of natural disasters in order to enable them contribute to the social economic development of the nation. IV. To continue initiating health care programs among floods victims. It is common to see victims of natural disasters suffering from all kinds of diseases like bilharzias, scabies, ringworm, rabies, infected wounds, sexually transmitted diseases and Malaria. V. Water boreholes in some areas. VI. Construction of destroyed buildings, houses, Clinics and Schools. |
