Biography

 Sept. 2010 - Now

I am now a PhD student in Computer Science Department, Stanford University.

Aug. 2006 - Jul. 2010

I got Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science and TechnologyTsinghua University, in July 2010.

Feb. 2009 - May 2010

I interned in Machine Learning Group, Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA), where I worked on machine learning approaches to ranking, aka learning to rank for IR. I also designed a large-scale machine learning toolkit, enabling machine learning algorithms such as logistic regression, boosting and decision tree to run easily on any multi-core clusters.

  Research Interests

Designing effective and efficient machine learning algorithms and tools to handle mass web data; machine learning; computer vision; data mining; information retrieval

     Research Experiences

Data Mining in Large Scale Social and Information Networks, at Stanford University, supervised by Prof. Jure Leskovec                       2011.04 - Now

Unsupervised Feature Learning for Processing Natural Images, at Stanford University, supervised by Prof. Andrew Ng                           2010.09 - 2011.03

Research on Learning to Rank, at Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA)                                                                                                         2009.02 - 2010.05

Large-scale Machine Learning Toolkit Project, at Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA)                                                                                 2009.03 - 2010.02

TRECVID competition (hosted by National Institute of Standards and Technology), at Tsinghua University                                            2009, 2008

 Projects
SIGMA: Large-scale and Parallel Machine Learning Toolkit
(Current release supports multi-core environment in single machine
)
Designed and implemented nearly ten parallel machine learning algorithms on MPI-based clusters with 1000+ cores.
Algorithms include logistic regression, boosting, decision tree, conditional random field, Naïve Bayes, etc.
