The Club Hut‎ > ‎

Facilities

Inver has been developed as base for mountaineering in the Northwest Highlands. It's remote location has prevented over-development of the facilities, but it has everything needed for a weekend of mountaineering and it is also well equipped for events such as BBQs and club Christmas dinners.

There is no mains electricity but most of the hut has gas lighting. The hut has its own water supply.

Kitchen and Living Accommodation

This was all upgraded in the spring and summer of 2006, with a new kitchen being built in the former club room.

There is a snug/lounge area, which has been enlarged with the removal of the old kitchen units. The lounge contains seating, a large dining table and a newly rebuilt open fire. Bring coal or wood for the fire (available from petrol stations in Inverness and elsewhere).

The new kitchen is connected to the lounge through the former utility room. Cooking facilities include a large range cooker, plus five extra gas rings. The kitchen is equipped with a wide range of pots, crockery, utensils, cutlery etc., but you are recommended to bring fresh tea-towels.

Sleeping Accommodation

There is sleeping accommodation upstairs for 10 to 14 people. Bring a sleeping mat. A further 12 places are available in the byre for JMC members. The byre also houses a gas heated drying room.

Nearby Pubs, Restaurants and Shops

The Ledgowan Hotel is within walking distance of Inver, on the road back towards Achnasheen village. It has a restaurant and a small but well stocked public bar. Sadly, the Achnasheen Hotel (by the station) burnt down a number of years ago. The next nearest pubs are in Kinlochewe or Lochcarron.

There is a small post office and a craft/coffee shop in Achnasheen, both with limited opening hours. The nearest grocery shops are in Loch Carron or Kinlochewe.
