EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY is a four year adult education program of the School of Theology of University of the South, Sewanee Tennessee.  It is just what  it says, educating for ministry in the church, any church, any person, any time. 

Groups of 6 to 12 persons meet regularly with an especially trained mentor to discuss readings supplied by the program. to worship and to reflect theologically on how the content of what they are reading extends, reinforces, enlarges their experience as human beings made in God's image.  EfM makes people aware of what God might be calling them to do in the world and in the Church.  EfM gives us an understanding of our history and tradition, and how it makes us the people of God.

The four years in the course cover what the traditions and history of the Christian Church involve, Holy Scripture, both the Hebrew  Scriptures and the Christian Scriptures; Church History; and Theology.

At present (2009)  there are groups in the Diocese of New Hampshire in Hampstead, New London, Newport, Meredith, Keene, Peterborough, Hanover (2 groups), Exeter, Nashua, Portsmouth, and Peterborough. Two groups meet across the western border of New Hampshire in White River Junction, Vermont.
