Formed at the start of the 1960's, Newcastle Yacht Club has seen generations of sailing families pass through its doors, many returning in later life with their grandchildren to pass on their 'expertise'. With such a wealth of information and history available, it is only fitting that it should be collected and presented in a format that will provide a realisitc snapshot of the club and the people who helped make it a success. This section of the website is currently under development.

As a taster of what to expect, the following text is an excerpt from "Newcastle Yacht Club - The First 40 Years" -  A personal memoir by Don McCracken

"We made sure to have someone in attendance afloat on race days; sometimes it would be Gerry Murphy in a harbour skiff, but nearly always John and Mairin McAteer would be out in their aluminium-hulled 'Pearly Miss' keeping an eye not solely on their own 'dare-devil' daughters, but on everyone else too".
