Breakfast with Birds. Meet 7.30am at the Wetlands Centre Shortland for guided tour with a ornithologist who can answer everything you ever wanted to know about birds. After an absence of several years from the NavShieild* competition Newcastle Bushwalking Club has returned to the event with a strong performance. *NavShield is the premier bush navigation competition held in NSW each year. It is organised by the Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue Organization and attracts teams for bushwalking clubs, rescue organizations and the armed services. 
  CAVING WEEKEND
On 4 & 5 July 2009 twelve club members enjoyed a weekend caving at Jenolan Caves and a day walk at Kanangra Walls.
