NBB’s Rebecca Donaghue and Jess Minty took to the streets of Houston in the fastest, most competitive Olympic Marathon Trials race in U.S. History. Donaghue was debuting at the distance, having qualified for the meet using a 10,000m time. She was the ONLY athlete in the field to use a 10K mark as her qualifier. In her first marathon, Rebecca ran an outstanding 2:35:57 – a pace of 5:57 per mile – to place 17th overall. Jess Minty was also out to compete, holding steady at approximately 2:43 pace until hitting the wall at mile 23. Depsite a difficult last few miles, Jess persevered and accomplished something many of us hope we can one day claim: she is an Official Finisher of the United States Olympic Trials. Congrats to both athletes on the tremendous hard work they put in to accomplish their goals. |
