NES just received the science NECAP results from last May. It does show that we have a lot of work to do in this area, too. If students are struggling with reading and writing, then a written science test is bound to show deficits due to those skill weaknesses. On many questions we did as well or even better than the State average. We especially struggled in the inquiry section. This is a long reading of information and directions that is followed with a science experiment that needs to be conducted and written about. It is something that is complex and requires students to be invested in their answers. That is an area that we will be working on throughout this year.
It is our expectation that these scores will rise each year, and we will meet the State average so |
