SEE THE NERJA CAVES
A visit to Nerja is incomplete without a visit to the Nerja Caves.
The Nerja caves were discovered in 1959 when a group of boys from the village of Maro climbed through a small hole where they were playing. They had found one of Europe's finest cave structures. Cave paintings have been discovered which are believed to be 20,000 years old. Onechamber acts as an auditorium for classical music concerts and other events.
take a walk around the Nerja caves and find yourself in another world. You'll be amazed at the very size of the caves and the stalactites that hang from the ceilings and the stalamites that rise from the gorund. At first glance they look fabricated but believe me, they are real. Entrance to the Nerja Caves costs a small fee and there is also pleny of parking as well as a fantastic restaurant. Be aware, these caves are a fantastic tourist attraction and so often there are long queues.
