Went in at OG 1.073 and seven days later bottled (drank a bit too, nice and fresh) with a FG of 1.026. Mix included one and a half Toohey's larger extract, 800g Coopers enhancer #2, and around 700g white sugar. Included 4 scoops of Harris ground espresso (strong). On drinking fresh, coffee came through very subtle in odour, and hint in taste. Very pleasant. Not as good as the first fresh coffee brew (it had an OG of around 1.048), but need to find a way to get the FG down a bit more to get more of a lift in flavour.
Alternate brew also at high OG (1.068) with 1.5 cans of Toohey's larger extract and 1.1kg white sugar. Added a 2.5g extra yeast 5 days in after it went dead, and took 2 days for it to start up again. |
