Food Preparation: Assist
with food preparation, which includes cutting vegetables, preparing
various food products to be made into nutritious meals, and washing
dishes.
When: 7 days a week from 9:00am to 12:00pm
This is our most popular volunteer opportunity. Help DC Central Kitchen's staff prepare over 4,000 meals each day.

Evening Co-Op Shift (New!)
Help prepare fresh, locally grown produce for the next morning's meals. Opportunities on Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 5 to 8pm.

First Helping - Street Outreach 
Volunteers serve breakfast at street locations in the District, allowing outreach staff to focus on services for clients. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals interested in regularly volunteering.

Prepare Donations Off-Site

Help us by preparing and donating sack lunches, snack bags or toiletry kits, or by organizing a food drive or another off-site project.

Crop Gleaning (New!)

Volunteers go to local farms to pick fresh produce with us. DCCK will use the food that volunteers pick to prepare nutritious meals for our clients.

V3 Campaign Intern: The V3 Campaign, a project of DC Central Kitchen, focused on
nonprofit advocacy, is seeking an individual to assist with administrative
tasks related to the Campaign’s operation. Hours are flexible and suited to a

Partner Relations Department Intern: The
intern will learn the inner-workings of non-profit operations by working
closely with DC Central Kitchen’s Partner Relations Department, which plays a
key role in ensuring that 4,000 healthy meals get distributed each day to 100
social-service agencies. Full Description Here
Data Entry: Help with data entry of comment cards, faxing, and filing paperwork.
When: Suggested time is 3 hours in the afternoon once a week; contact Carolyn to set a schedule.
Fresh Start Catering Intern: Fresh Start Catering employs graduates of the Job Training Program and provides income for DC Central Kitchen. The Intern will assist the manager of Fresh Start catering with marketing, sales, scheduling, and basic operations. Interest in food is preferred, but not necessary.
Qualifications:
· Culinary knowledge preferred · Desktop Publishing experience · The ability to work independently · Writing/editing skills · Research experience
