BREAD FOR THE CITY VOLUNTEERS > INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERS Volunteering at Bread for the City Volunteers
work directly with Bread for the City staff to serve our clients and
foster an environment of dignity and respect. Whether packing grocery
bags, conducting intake interviews, or sorting clothing, Bread for the
City depends on our network of dedicated individuals to make sure we
can help as many people as possible. Bread for the City invites volunteers to come either as individuals or in an organized group.
Former clients, college students, retired community members, pro-bono professionals, and many others help Bread for the City serve our clients in all five program areas. Volunteers typically commit to working one day per week in either the morning (9am-Noon) or the afternoon (1pm-4pm). Bread for the City’s areas of greatest need are listed below. If all volunteer slots are full in a specific program, we will keep your application on file for when the opportunity becomes available again.
*Need for intake volunteers from 9-12 or 1-4, available immediately.
*More Food Pantry Volunteers will be needed for the Holiday season beginning November 3rd.

Group Volunteers
Bread for the
City welcomes corporate offices, law firms, alumni associations, and
many other groups to participate in our efforts throughout the course
of the year. We are able to accommodate a maximum of 10 individuals at
either our Northwest or Southeast Centers during normal business hours
(9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday), as well as occasional
Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. Among other things, volunteer
groups help us pack grocery bags in our two Food Pantries, make medical
charts for our Medical Clinic, and sort clothing in our Southeast
Clothing Room.
Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings are full at this time.
To schedule a date, please complete the online application and follow the submission instructions. You can find out which dates are still available by contacting Erin, the Volunteer Coordinator.
