Chatham p. 999 suggests that this is the Nehemiah born 1736 son of Wilkerson. There are other possibilities. One is that this is the Nehemiah in the 1783 and 1784 Tax Rolls for Amherst as Nehemiah Sr. and that with him are his son Jr. and his wife and 2 children.

Nehemiah HUNDLEY born 1760/1770 residing at Columbia, Hamilton, Ohio in 1840.

In the 1840 census at Columbia, Hamilton, Ohio, p. 403, Nehamiah Hundley age 70-80 with a woman the same age.

Nehemiah HUNDLEY married Elizabeth CAVE

Cave, Elizabeth Hundley, Nehemiah 04 Aug 1790 Virginia
Orange County

This Nehemiah would likely have been born before 1770 and is a candidate for the the Nehemiah who married Elizabeth Cave. Check Hamilton, Ohio records.

Nehemiah HUNDLEY (Chatham #3178) born at Gloucester about 1736, son of Wilkerson HUNDLEY and Elizabeth. Mentioned in will of Wilkerson HUNDLEY who died in 1772 at Gloucester, Virginia. He had siblings; John, Mary, Joshua, Thomas, George, Charles, Nehemiah and Elizabeth.

Wilkinson Hundley wrote his will in 1747 but it was not probated until after 1769 and likely refers to the Wilkinson HUNTLEY who died May 1772.

Son Nehemiah is mentioned in the will

Ref. 1747 Will Records of Colonial Gloucester Co., Virginia, vol. II, p. 67 "Fragments of Will of Wilkinson HUNDLEY ...I Wilkerson HUNLEY of Va., Glocestor, Co., Kingston ..... with personal with ... profits unto George Hunley and Nehe miah Hunley

Chatham gives no indication of children for this Nehemiah. Note at Amherst the Nehemiah is given as Nehemiah Sr. Could the 5 persons be Sr. and son Nehemiah and their family?

This may be the Nehemiah HUNDLEY enumerated at Mathews County n 1810 with ? people in the family.

In the 1810 census for Matthews county, Virginia, p.   there is Nehemiah Hundley with

Nehemiah HUNDLEY son of George HUNDLEY (Chatham #3213 (son of, George(#3176), descendant from Wilkerson  or Wilkinson (#3156) Ambrose (#3150) , Phillip (3147), Phillip (#3146)) who was son of Wilkerson HUNDLEY. Chatham gives this Nehemiah as her #3278, and as our Nehemiah who died 24 Nov 1833 (May be 1831) the the Revolutionary War soldier that resided in Albemarle, Virginia. Chatham gives this Nehemiah as the second child of George HUNDLY and Anne who she gives as being married about 1771 with Nehemiah born about 1772 or 1773. This does not fit well for the Nehemiah who lived in Albemarle who is given in the 1810 census as over 45 and who had daughter Ann DRUMHELLER in 1780 and who performed military service in the Revolutionary War in 1779. This appears to be serious error and conclusions given don't fit the facts.

Chatham gives this Nehemiah HUNDLEY as a brother to a James HUNDLEY citing 1802 Land Orange County, Virginia Deeds, vol. 23 p. 194-195; FHL film 33014; 19 May 1804 between James Hundley and Nehemiah Hundley of the County of Orange of the one part and James Nelson of hte said county of the other... for the sum... and Jame sNelson of the said part and  in Orange County whereon the said Hundleys now live and adjoining the lands of Joel may

Nehemiah HUNDLEY listed as bondsman; 1794 Marriage Bonds: Virginia, Orange County, Marriage Bonds 1757-1803; Hundley, John and Nancy Loyd 12 July 1794.

This is a likely possibility for the Nehemiah HUNDLEY who married Elizabeth CAVE at Orange in 1790 but the Nehemiah named in son Valentines's pension petition of 1855.

Chatham p. 1054 cites 1802 Land record, Orange County, Virginia deeds, Vol., 23, p. 194-195; FHL # 33014; 19 May 1804 between James Hundley and Nehemiah Hundley of the County of Orange of the one part and James Nelson  re a parcel o fland in Orange County.

This could be the Nehemiah at Ohio in 1840 if he fibbed a bit about his age and declared it 2 or 3 years older than he actually was.

If this is not our Nehemiah then who are the descendants of this Nehemiah who likely married Elizabeth CAVE at Orange in 1790?

Chatham, page 1054 provids confusing and contradictory information and conclusions as to our Nehemiah and the Nehemiah son of George and Ann.

This Nehemiah HUNDLEY born 1736 if married between 1756 and 1758  would be a likely candidate for a son Nehemiah who married Mildred MARTIN, say about 1779. This is all speculation but gives some time periods and places to search

Nehemiah HUNDLEY, born about 1750/1753 (Chatham #3212, son of George (#3176), son of Wilkinson (#3156).According to Chatham, this Nehemiah had brothers, George (#3213), Anthony (#3214) and Caleb (#215)

This Nehemiah is given on p. 1041 (I'm missing the page) On page

Chatham links this Nehemiah as the father of Polly Hundley who married William BECKETT, 20 Jan 1817. This Nehemiah then could be the same as our Nehemiah who died 1831/1833 husband of Mildred.

[Need copy of p. 1041]

Nehemiah HUNDLEY listed as bondsman; 1794 Marriage Bonds: Virginia, Orange County, Marriage Bonds 1757-1803; Hundley, John and Nancy Loyd 12 July 1794.

Analyzing Chatham's 3 Nehemiah HUNDLEYs

3156 - Nehemiah HUNDLEY (Wilkinson, Ambrose, Phillip, Phillip) was born at Gloucester, Virginia about 1736. When did he die? Who did he marry? Who were his children?

This Nehemiah is likely too old to be the Nehemiah who died in 1831/1833 and was the subject of son Valentine's pension application in 1855.

3212 - Nehemiah HUNDLEY (George, Wilkinson, Ambrose, Phillip, Phillip was born at ? about 1750/1753. When did he die? Who did he marry? Who were his children?

This Nehemiah is a possibility for the Nehemiah HUNDLEY who served in the Revolutionary War in 1779, married Mildred and had daughter Ann born 1781 and who is over age 45 in the 1810 Albemarle, Virginia census and died at Albemarle in 1831/1833.

This Nehemiah according to

3278 Nehemiah - HUNDLEY (George, George, Wilkinson, Ambrose, Phillip, Phillip) was born 1772/1773. When were his parents George and Anne married? When did he die? Who were his children?

The Nehemiah is too young to be the Nehemiah who had daughter Ann (HUNDLEY) DRUMHELLER born in 1781 and therefore can not be the Nehemiah mentioned in the 1855 pension application by son Valentine. Also too young to be the Nehemiah age 45 in the 1810 Albemarle Census.

The father of this Nehemiah, George is given as having died in the Revolutionary War about 1781. Estate was inventoried 17 Nov 1781.
