History of My Mobilepro
Well I never intended to host a web site, that's for sure. It just kind of evolved.
I had started out with a simple web page called Diverseinformation in June 2000. It was a personal page with 3 main areas. My personal pictures of friends and adventures, my classroom information where I teach, and there was a single file with some pictures of my Mobilepro 770. It looked like this: About 31 months later, I slammed the lid shut on my 770 and broke the lcd. So I picked up a broken 770 for parts on eBay. Back on those days a used 770 was going for over $250-$300. I took pictures mainly so I wouldn't forget how to put it all back together again, but ended up posting them on my web site. I got so many hits that on those pictures that I created a new web site with the name Integratedinfo.com
That lasted about 25 months as I kept adding information and such, plus I had obtained other Mobilepros in the interim. A 780, a 790, etc, until I finally got one of the original prototype 900Cs. My primary focus then was on software compatibility for the 900C. That is when I created HPCNEC.COM in the spring of 2005.
The problem with that site was that even with templates, it was overwhelming to update pages. So I bought a cgi script program that is used to host a forum and edited the software, and came up with a newer version of HPCNEC.
In Jan 2009, I was told by my hosting company that the rates would be increasing to nearly $600/year to host HPCNEC.COM. Since HPCs are no longer sold, I just couldn't justify the cost to keep HPCNEC running as a private enterprise at such an expense. I shut it down and created an interim text only site for a few month.
Gratefully, Google provides limited free webhosting. So I finally have recreated HPCNEC, and renamed it MY MOBILEPRO. Since you are here, you are now seeing it in its entirety. So as long as Google provides this service, you will be able to enjoy what information I have to share. This website is run by one person, me. And I have been known to make mistakes, so if you see one, let me know so I can correct it. Enjoy your visit. Rich |
