CNE-Net, the education division of the North Dakota Nurses Association (CNE-Net) under the lead of Jean Kautzman MSN, RN, has done an outstanding job meeting the needs of CNE-Net customers for many years. Unfortunately, CNE-Net has faced persistent challenges, particularly the difficulty in recruiting and engaging volunteer Nurse Reviewers and CNE-Net committee members. The volume of continuing nursing education applications has not kept pace with expenses to keep the program fiscally vibrant as an accredited approver and accredited provider of continuing nursing education activities. Consequently,
we announce with deep regret the decision by the NDNA Board of Directors to
suspend the Accredited Approver Unit and the Accredited Provider Unit operations
under American
Nurses
Credentialing
Center’s
Commission on Accreditation (ANCC
COA).
CNE-Net has stopped accepting applications as of
October 15, 2011. All applications received by that date will be processed
by November
15, 2011. No applications will be accepted if post marked/ emailed after October 15, 2011. In an effort to preserve continuing nursing education (CNE) expertise in North Dakota and to serve as a resource for North Dakota customers, several nurses from NDNA will volunteer to serve as reviewers with the Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA) Continuing Education Approval and Recognition Program (CEARP). For information on serving as a reviewer with WSNA, please visit http://wsna.org/education/cearp/committee/. This decision to suspend approval of CNE through CNE-Net/ NDNA should not affect the ability of individual applicants or of Approved Providers to obtain approval for CNE activities. Applications may be submitted to another ANCC-Accredited Approver. Only Constituent Member Associations (most State Nurses Associations) of the American Nurses Association or Specialty Nursing Organizations are eligible to be Accredited Approvers. **Approved Providers please note WSNA requires all renewal applications be submitted 90 days before expiration date. Please check your expiration date and make plans to have renewal applications complete and submitted 90 days before expiration date. If you choose to renew with another accredited approver please check for submission deadline dates. Current Approved Providers will be transferred and maintained by the WSNA for the duration of the approval period. At that time renewal may be sought through WSNA or the organization may seek approval as a provider through any Accredited Approver. All individual applicants that make changes to their previously approved activities and are within the 2 year time frame for presentation must contact NDNA and we will assist you with transitioning to WSNA. Look online at www.nursecredentialing.org/accredapp/getall.cfm for a listing of accredited organizations. (Please note this list contains both Accredited Providers as well as Accredited Approvers). For information on submitting applications for CNE approval through WSNA, please visit http://wsna.org/education/cearp/. If
you have any questions regarding the suspension of the CNE-Net/ NDNA Accredited
Approver and Accredited Provider programs, please contact Becky Graner at info@ndna.org or 701-223-1385.
