 In addition, we have a special guest coach from one of Wales' professional football clubs who will also share his methods and practices with you.

 By attending, you will also revalidate (see application form for full details) your Football Leaders Award or C Certificate for another 3 years!

COURSE INFORMATION

 

FAW Football Leaders Award (FLA)                                                       Cost: £40.00

A 15 hour course providing a basic introduction to the organisation of football practices in a fun and safe environment with an emphasis on skill development. This is a mandatory award for all coaches involved in junior football in Wales.

 

FAW Goalkeepers Award (GKA)                                                          Cost: £30.00

A six hour course providing a basic introduction to the organisation and delivery of goalkeeper-specific activities. The course will focus on developing candidate skills in the organisation of practices in a fun and safe learning environment.

 

FAW First Aid for Football Awareness (EA)                                               Cost: £25.00

A three hour course developing an awareness of first aid techniques within a football environment.

 

FAW Welfare & Child Protection - A Guide to Best Practice (WCP)                    Cost: £25.00

A three hour workshop to support candidates in developing good practice when working with children and vulnerable adults. The

workshop will focus on identifying poor practice and recognising signs, symptoms and forms of abuse and how to react to concerns or disclosures. It will also provide advice on how to identify people and organisations that can help and provide support.

 

McDonald's Coaching Workshops (CW)                                                 Cost: Free

A range of local workshops that aim to provide support and information for coaches working at grass roots level with junior clubs in Wales. The courses also form part of the FAW revalidation requirements (see revalidation process below).

 

FAW Coaching Footballers with a Disability Course (FDC)                             Cost: £30.00

A 6 hour practical course providing coaches with an insight into adapting coaching sessions for disabled footballers in a fun and safe environment. The course will assist, supplement and support the coaches existing experiences in this field.

 

FAW 'C' Certificate (CC)                                                                    Cost: £250.00

A 60 hour course consisting of practical coaching and theory modules based on teaching players skills and techniques in problem- solving games and practices. Ongoing informal assessment will be undertaken.

Places for the course are limited to 36 candidates and all applications will be strictly handled on a 'first come, first served' basis.

Pre-requisite entry criteria are: Youth - Football Leaders Award, First Aid Certificate, Welfare & Child Protection Course; Senior: First Aid Certificate.

 

FAW/ UEFA 'B' Licence (BL)                                                                Cost: £800.00, Discounted Rate - £450.00

This is a 90 hour course outlining the principles of play within small-sided games and coaching activities. Practical coaching and theory modules are covered. Post-course work and candidate assessment is required.

Places for the course are limited to 24 candidates and all applications will be strictly handled on a 'first come, first served' basis. Pre-requisite entry criteria are: Youth - FAW C 'Youth' Certificate; Senior - FAW C 'Senior' Certificate.

 

REVALIDATION PROCESS:

All football coaching qualifications are valid for a 3 year period as directed by UEFA. It is the coaches' and clubs' responsibility to

ensure that all coaching qualifications are kept valid. Individuals completing courses have 3 years to ensure that they keep awards

valid by either:

PROCEDURES FOR APPLYING COURSES IN 2011/2012

 

Complete one coach education application form per course you wish to attend. Send to 'Coach Education (Football), Sports Development

Unit, Level 3, County Hall, Cwmbran, NP44 2WN or email it to gwentfootball@live.co.uk. Don't forget to include the payment for the

course and, if a fee is payable, make cheques payable to 'Welsh Football Trust'.

Once we receive your coach education application form and payment, your details will be put on the relevant course register and an

acknowledgement letter with receipt (if a fee is payable) will be sent to you.

 

 

 

 

Approximately 7 to 10 days prior to the course start date, you will receive your confirmation letter. If for whatever reason you cannot

attend, please contact the department as soon as possible so that we can record your non-attendance on the course.
