February 5-7 NCARH 2010 @ East Carolina University "The Lost City of Atlantis" |
Plato wrote about a city of people he called the Atlantians. These people lived in a city no one knows existed, but Plato describes this place as Utopia. Scientific research has shown that the islands of Santorini, off the coast of Greece, could very well be home to this lost city. Atlantis was lost over 9,000 years ago when a volcanic eruption devastated the lslands. Covered from years of rock and soil scientists have discovered civilian artifacts, proving that human life did exist.
As many civilizations strive to be the best with no crime, no violence, no high-school drop-outs, 100% employment rates, peace and cooperation between state and government officials -- Utopia represents all of this and more. The city was at peace with itself and thrived through educated, sympathetic civilians who lead each other in the right direction.
North Carolina Association of Residence Halls encompasses these aspects. Our leaders are young and have fresh ideas, we all want peace, everyone helps one another, and we volunteer our time so that our campuses may benefit from our work. Although Atlantis and the city referred to as Utopia were lost at sea and never truly explored, one could wonder what it would be like to walk through a civilization of success. Let NCARH 2010 discover that wonder; if we continue ourgreat work together, we will be our own Utopia. |
