Welcome to the NBCTeacher website. As a NBCTeacher, I've accumulated a number of materials and ideas that I want to share with you! Materials will continually be added so make sure to stop by a few times throughout the year, explore, and share with your colleagues. I just published two new articles! Check them out. Read "Start Building Confidence with Promethean Flipcharts" for a direct link.
There are simple lists that you can download or print off on a wide variety of topics in the Big Seven section: discipline, organization, and student relationships. As a rookie or relatively new teacher, you will enjoy the Lost Others section that includes ideas for how to work with teachers, parents, and administrators. There are flipcharts for those who use Promethean software, although this will be my first full year using that technology. If you are an English or Language Arts teacher, you absolutely have to check out the Links section for some tried and true resources that I use regularly. Teaching is an art and a science. To be the best that you can be, it is so important to know your own strengths and weaknesses so that you can continue to improve your practice throughout your career. The materials and ideas that work for me, may not work for you. Take the time to look at my personal and professional background because it may help you understand why I use certain strategies. Likewise, check out the Miss. Nomer page (a little English humor) for a lengthy list of my values and beliefs. As a teacher you really need to analyze who you are and what you believe in, because it unconsciously affects your students every day.
If you are unfamiliar or interested in learning about National Board Certified Teachers, check out the You will find that even though I am an "English" specialist, I don't obsess about grammar or sentence construction. I'm more of a Language Artist than a Language Arts teacher (actually I'm a History teacher, but that's a different story). Blogging, texting, tweeting, creating wikis, or designing websites requires a certain laissez-faire attitude and style. I've adopted the same on this site. All files are in Microsoft Word Office 2003, although I'm making the switchover to Office 2007 throughout the next two years. If you would like to see something added to a page, or a new subpage added, a different text file, or just want to leave a general comment, drop me a note on the Comment page. Enjoy. NBCT News
