I am a Ph.D. candidate at the mathematics department of University of British Columbia. Before joining UBC, I received my Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology in 2011. I became a member of Institute of Applied Mathematics in 2011 and completed my Master's degree in Applied mathematics in 2013 under the supervision of Ozgur Yilmaz and Felix Herrmann. I'm also a member of Seismic Laboratory for Imaging and Modeling at UBC.

My research interest is in the general field of compressed sensing and sparse recovery. In particular, my work focuses on tensor and matrix completion, sparse signal reconstruction algorithms and its applications in seismic signal recovery. As an intern at 1Qbit I have also worked on machine learning algorithms and in particular, reinforcement learning.

In my research I use tools from applied probability, convex optimization, random matrix theory and harmonic analysis. I am currently working on the tensor completion problem where the measurements can either be noisy or 1-bit. I have also worked on using prior information such as partial support information to improve compressed sensing algorithms.
