Sketches are such a vital part of the creative process - whether prompted by commissions, a lazy afternoon or a bolt of inspiration from the blue, with only a biro to hand! 

They can lie for years before use in a final piece of art.  Some of these sketches and drawings were pre-scanner and have been gifted away, leaving only photographs for display.  Many have gone on to be printed as card designs.
