Join university instructors in reflecting
on community service-learning (CSL).
Instructors from a diverse range of faculties at the University of Calgary are involved in instructing community service-learning (CSL) courses. In teaching through this unconventional method, they aim to provide a solid academic foundation for students and community partners alike to grow from during their CSL projects.
Below are two articles based on instructor experiences with CSL.
"Compared to a normal course, CSL is very time consuming. There is a lack of appreciation by the university for experiential learning and no recognition for the amount of work that has to go into a CSL course."
- Dr. Denise Brown, University of Calgary
"'I see my world differently now.' When people say that to me at the end of
classes, then I know I have been successful."
- Linda Vennard, University of Calgary
