About This Site This website was created as part of the coursework in the Winter 2010 edition of Communications Studies 463: Advanced Technical and Professional Communication, taught by Dr. Tania Smith. This course has its own comprehensive website which outlines assignments, expectations and goals, and provides a multitude of resources for the students. Dr. Smith has implemented a significant community service-learning element in this course, partnering with Volunteer Calgary and the University of Calgary's Community Service Learning Office. These are our community partners in that, as a group of students, we are providing them a service to create a website to inform visitors of student perspectives on CSL. The focus of our partners' work also allows them to also serve as invaluable resources in our research, reflections, and analysis of the course material. This is a unique opportunity for meta-analysis of the project and the process, and is of enormous benefit for all parties. We hope that you have been well-informed on the many faces of community service-learning. This site is a student project with a limited reach and scope, but we would still like to encourage you to find out more. Contact your local educational institution and find out what role you can take in a more integrative and lasting method of learning.
