Reflections: The Real Student Experience
Although community service-learning (CSL) offers enriching experiences for those involved, it definitely isn't an easy ride. That's why we have included reflections of our personal experiences in hopes that it may help to guide you through your own CSL journey. Getting caught off guard isn't always fun... "I feel like we have such a cohesive and supportive network. Having a [support] base such as this, as well as the instructor and community partner foundation, is integral to the success of community service-learning."
"Yes, teamwork is a very, if not the most, important ingredient in community service learning."
"The tools and skills I learned helped me overcome my feelings of vulnerability and nervousness..."
"I have a gained a greater depth and breadth of knowledge and
perspective in each of [my CSL] courses than most other courses I've taken. Getting in and getting my
hands dirty is the best way to experience the field."
