Sometimes things that grow or form in nature do unusual things. This page will show you some of that, whether in trees or rocks. I'm particularly a fan of things that grow in a determined way in difficult places. This is a big old tree that is at the water's edge. I find it fascinating to stop and take a close look at the texture of the bark and to imagine the strain on the lower part of the tree which probably is what is creating the textures, since most of the weight of this immense tree is leaning out over the water. I really don't know what happened with this next item. It is a mushroom of some kind, but with the most unusual and at the same time interesting shape. This is a most interesting thing that happens with some trees around here. If the main trunk goes sideways for some reason then branches of that trunk will become their own trees and you get this kind of formation. I think of a harp when I see this one. Sometimes an unusual shape catches your attention, other times it's a splash of colour in a surprising place, such as this set of yellow leaves that seemed to be hovering near the evergreens like a UFO. That got me curious, so I got up underneath it, and I saw amazing symmetry! |
