I know next to nothing about mushrooms and Fungi. What I do know is that they can be very visually interesting, and sometimes even colourful and flamboyant! It wasn't me that took those bites, but I sure wonder who it was! I was surprised one day to find a green slug eating a mushroom. Somehow I had thought that was a fairytale event, not a real one. Go over to this link later to see pictures of the slug eating a mushroom. So many different textures! Such fragile looking life forms! This one was larger than a big dinner plate! Within days of first spotting it it folded up on itself. Some fungi are amazingly colourful, like this one spotted near the cabins in late July. These next few pictures are not from Moorecroft camp (they were taken on the Sunshine coast) but are certainly interesting examples of what we are examining. The last one is especially significant to me... If you look carefully you will see a drowned newt in the water in this large mushroom. It is exactly as I found it, and I felt sad finding it, and did a lot of wondering about why and how a newt would get up there and die. Thank you for looking at our Fungi and Mushroom page. At other spots we have pictures of a very unusually shaped mushroom ( see Mickey Mouse when I look at it) and images of a slug eating a mushroom! |
