Northwest Natural History Courses for Teachers   
 
These courses offer teachers opportunities to explore a variety strategies that can enhance their students' learning across the curriculum by tapping in to the power of their natural intelligence. The courses also offer formal and informal educators an opportunity to develop their natural history interpretation skills (as well as cycling, kayaking and hiking skills) as a means to enhance outdoor learning experiences for students.

1. Natural History of BC's Southern Gulf Islands - bike and kayak touring (cyclists of all levels)
June 27th to July 2nd of 2012            Register for Gulf Class 2012
** This class begins on 6/27/12 at 9:15am at the Tsawwassen ferry terminal 1 hr north of the border at I-5 where we will catch the 10:20am ferry to Mayne Island.

2. Natural History of the San Juan Islands - bike and kayak touring (cyclists of all levels)
July 8 - 13 of 2012                        Register for San Juan Class 2012

3. Hornby Island: Natural History of a Northern Gulf Island - a mountain biking and sea kayak touring
               Postponed until 2013                                     Register for Nothern Gulf Class 2013  

4. Natural History of Mount Adams - a Hiking class: (DATES SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO SNOW LEVELS)

            August 13th to August 18th of 2012                    Register for Mt. Adams Class 2012

How the Courses can be almost free - or better.
Taking these courses costs between $290 and $450, depending upon credit options.  There are a number of ways to make the cost substantially less than this.  Please click here to read a few ideas about paying for these or other professional development opportunities.
