New information about your department!

1. SNR is merging with Office of Arid Lands
    a.  The details of the merger are unknown, where are offices, who is moving, are people moving, is it a physical merger or a merger in spirit, what new classes will be offered? are there going to be new classes? new assignments to teaching? who is going to oversee all of these decisions? is the staff going to change?  Who is going to be the director?  Are students going to be included in the decision makings?

2. SNR and OAL will be changing their name to.... School of Natural Resources and the Environment

3. SNR went through an Academic Performance Review (separate from but concidnetal to the University wide transformation) and came out with many helpful suggestions.  Overall we are doing OK.  There are some big wholes such as a large mammal wildlife faculty to maintain a widlife program.  There are some GREAT things such as the GIS program offered through our department as well as the Extension and outreach programs offered.  Many suggestions were oriented towards increasing undergraduate enrolement and retention.  Pertaining to graduate students were suggestions of how to get more TA's for our department.

4.  There are other potential mergers that could still take place within the school and the university.
