About NRGSO

Our mission is to:

1.    Undertake an active role in and increase awareness of departmental decisions that affect graduate students

2.    Provide a forum for the presentation of innovative ideas to the benefit of the School of Natural Resource community (A.K.A. Grad Forum)

3.    Develop and promote leadership opportunities in the natural resources for graduate students

4.    Provide fellowship among graduate students

Our activities this year included:

1.  Annual Invited Speaker Event:  Every year we invite a scientist to visit, meet with students and faculty and give a public seminar. This year we were proud to host internationally recognized wolf biologist Dr. L. David Mech. Over 150 people attended the events.

2.  Service Project Outings: We have also completed service projects at the Sonoita-Patagonia Nature Preserve, the Santa Rita Experimental Range, and Ramsey Canyon. Previous projects have included trail work, brush clearing, seed harvesting, invasive species removal, and building water harvesting features.

3.  Weekly Grad Forum Meetings:  During our weekly meetings, Master’s and PhD students give presentations and give feedback to develop professional skills.
