Welcome!
Let us tell you a little about our Club...
Who are we?
We are a community of moms who support each other as we navigate the joys and trials of motherhood. With over 70 members all living within the immediate neighborhood, we have many opportunities to play with friends, ask for advice and share triumphs and milestones. Throughout the year, we also take several opportunities to give back to our community.
What do we do? There are generally 2-3 activities each week ranging from playgroups to seasonal parties to MOMS Night Out. A calendar is released at the beginning of every month listing the planned activities so that you can plan for the ones you want to attend. A majority of our activities are held during the day while dad is at work, making it easiest to participate if you stay at home with your children. However, we do have many members that work part or full time and just attend the events that fit into their schedule.
A summary of our main activities:
** Playgroups: We meet regularly just to play. Playgroups can be designated as age specific (Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers) or open to all ages. Their locations can range from member's homes to the local parks and play areas. Some members even get brave and choose to host at places like Fairytale Town or the Zoo. Our members can generally find a handful of activities every month where they can burn off a little energy with friends.
** Social Hour: We hold a monthly social hour at The Club at Natomas Park to discuss upcoming events and business concerning our MOMS Club Chapter. This is also a great opportunity to catch up on the latest in community news.
** Seasonal Parties: We hold five service parties centered around different holidays throughout the year. They allow us the opportunity to celebrate the seasons together while also benefiting our community.
** MOMS Night Out: What mom doesn't want to get out occasionally? MOMS Night Out is scheduled every month so that you can have a little time just for you. We generally meet at a local restaurant, share dinner or dessert and celebrate the good and the bad of our lives as mommies!
** Book Club: We also have a book club that meets monthly. Not everyone gets through the entire book each month, but we all try and we enjoy teasing those who obviously didn't.
** Mighty MOMS: We realize that there are times when you need a little extra help to get through. Our Mighty MOMS program organizes volunteers to deliver meals, babysit, and run errands for members who just had a baby or are experiencing a family emergency.
** Babysitting Co-op: Since finances are a little tight these days, the Babysitting Co-op might be just what you need. Moms swap babysitting hours instead of paying for child care. It isn't "free" exactly since you have to put in your time as the sitter, but it is much more cost effective than some other options.
What do we do for the community?
We are a non-profit organization and feel that it is important to support our community as much as possible. We focus largely on charities that support women and children. In the past, our contributions have benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Sacramento Crisis Nursery, St. John's Shelter Program for Women and Children, the Mustard Seed School, Coats for Kids, SacBee's Annual Book Drive, the Ronald McDonald House and Project Birthday, among many others!
Why should you join today?
Being a mother is a tough job. There is no reason that you should do it alone. Come play with us and realize that we are all just doing our best. No one has a spotless house, perfect children or answers for every parenting dilemma. Together we can support each other and find the best path down this rocky road! The friendships that you find for both you and your children will make the hard days easier and the great joys that much sweeter.
We hope to have you join us soon!
