Nation to Nation Christmas Update

I just got back from the Pine Ridge Reservation for the second time this week.  The first time I arrived back on Sunday afternoon.  Tired as usual but satisfied the Mission went well, and God’s plan and purpose was carried out. 

When I was away I received an E-mail from a Lakota Pastor’s wife by the name of Rose White Face.  She was asking if we had a table and some clothing for the congregation there in Porcupine.  I replied yes, but I would not be coming until after my wife’s upcoming surgery after Christmas.  It would be in mid January.  But in my mind I was unable to just let it go at that.  I gave her a call and I had a sense that I should take the already packed trailer now.  I now believe the Holy Spirit was whispering in my ear, so it seems. There was no pressure from this person, but she sounded very grateful.  I went to the mission house that very day and arrived at the Lakota Mennonite Church along with Mick Stark and Dennis Jr at 9am Tuesday morning.   We were greeted by Mrs.  White Face and her 3 sons.  As they began to unload the trailer she told me the following story.

She and her husband pastor Howard White Face  have a regular  Christmas program with their small congregation of 15 families.  It starts with a Nativity story with the tiny tots, a full Worship service, a group meal, and then a give away.  That’s it.  The church provides the items for the give away.  Pastor Howard and her had been praying for something to share for their people for that time.  They had been praying for about 2 weeks.  Then they thought of Nation to Nation and began to pray if even to contact me.  They did not want to impose as some do.  Rose decided the only way, that God directed, was to send me an E-mail.  She told us that when we came it was a direct answer to their prayer.  She very clearly told me the only Christmas for these Faithful Christians was what happens from their church.  +++++There would have been no Christmas celebration with any kind of gift giving had it not been for the generous donations from many unknown persons. +++++

At this time Pastor Howard and Rose White Face would like to express their gratitude to everyone who took part in this outreach to the Lakota People.
