  YOGA FOR BACK CARE TESTIMONIALS

Yoga has given me a means by which I can actively, consciously deal with and lessen chronic physical pain. This is the reason I first came to yoga. But unexpectedly, yoga has taught me so much more: it has helped to redefine and broaden what success means  to me, given me a way to learn to relax and stop and be, and how to listen to what my body is trying to tell me.

   Thanks Narelle. Tamara L, Chelmer

The path of yoga has been my journey for over 20 years.  I have a daily  practice but there was an underlying yearning for more. Having “found” Narelle my practice has been taken to a whole new dimension. I had not been previously drawn to Iyengar yoga, but I am finding the time spent in preparation for a posture has allowed me a deeper opening and greater awareness within my body. Narelle has created a well-equipped, peaceful space in which to experience these teachings, and her  extensive knowledge and understanding of the physical blended with the essence of yoga makes each class an enriching encounter.

I do the classes 'cause it gives me time to chill; to read, recognise and love myself. Its time where I passify and allow a universal connection, ease my  mind chatter, see the world upside down which is rockin' ! Its like the world is spinning flat out around the sun and  Im suspended in my own moment. Part  of my purpose is to keep my life really simple and through these classes and practicing yoga it IS simple.....this "simple" is so easy I can do it standing on my head! HAHAHA. And I say to myself; "Ok Next challenge!!". Its also "weird".....different language of asana (asana is weird enough!!). Plus I meet great and friendly people - people with purpose! Theres no competition; its a self-yielding adventure! Ive also learnt discipline - the task of holding a pose longer, disciplining my mind to observe, to read myself, to find comfort in a pose....and I can apply this to any life situation - finding comfort in any moment.

When we left the suburbs I was quite apprehensive about finding a suitable Iyengar Yoga class close to the city, to replace my yoga class of 10 years.  I searched the internet and found a suitable time and level at BodyTorque Studio.  I still can’t believe my luck that I have found so much more than I expected - Narelle is a highly skilled, patient teacher who caters for individual needs and provides a friendly environment for the class.  I look forward to my weekly ‘fix’ of yoga.       Lauren W, Spring Hill

I find the classes are both enjoyable and a stretch for me increasing the satisfaction of practicing Iyengar yoga. There is always something new to learn, keeping me alert both physically and mentally. With guidance from Narelle I am able to explore new postures building on my previous learnings,with absolute trust in the teaching and demonstrations in each class.       Birgitt, Bulimba

There is so much I could say about yoga and the classes that I have been participating in at Narelle's studio for the past year and a half. But it was a single sentence that Narelle read out from BKS Iyengar's book that sums yoga up for me;

                                             "Every pose is a prayer"

   Thanks Narelle for transforming yoga for me.

After searching for a ‘cure’ for severe pain from a degenerative lower spine, I eventually found yoga, or should I say, fortunately, yoga found me! There hasn’t been any quick ‘fix’, but instead my yogic journey has involved constant practice that has strengthened core muscles, lengthened my spine and significantly improved my posture. Those pain-filled days are now a distant memory. At the end of a working day, one may commence yoga practice with headaches and stress - related tension. Amazingly, at the conclusion of the lesson, the mind is calm, tension has passed and worries have receded. This is how yoga has added another dimension to my life; one of emotional equilibrium achieved through the meditative concentration applied to the postures and through the art of controlling and directing the breath, pranayama.

Narelle is an experienced teacher who practices Iyengar Yoga and expertly guides her students to correct postural alignment using both an explicit language of instruction and her extensive scientific background of anatomical knowledge.
