Contact Narelle to enquire. | In a Private session, time is taken to listen to your story, to hear your body's history and to ask what you are wanting in working with yoga. An assessment will be carried out that may include viewing medical images and reports, if these are available. Together, we will begin the process of exploring asana in a way that is respectful and supportive of your physicality; specific and individualised. You will be invited, challenged and encouraged to extend yourself, as appropriate, eliciting change in the terrain of the body and in the relationship of body-mind. Often this exploration will include the use of yoga equipment (props ) and you will be shown how to adapt this for your home practice. At the conclusion of your session, the asana (postures) that we have explored together will be written out for you to take home; this forms a palette of choice and foundation for your home practice. You are encouraged to ask questions. Yoga yields -and the body's landscape changes - with regular consistent practice, even 20 minutes a day will create positive change! A initial Private session lasts 80 minutes. Subsequent sessions last 55 minutes. You can chose to come as a single session, or purchase as a block of 4-8 sessions at a significantly reduced cost. Private sessions are a pre-requisite for joining a scoliosis/ backcare Course, if these are on current offer. Please note; At your initial private assessment session, an optimal yoga plan will be discussed with you. This may involve several sessions prior to, or in conjunction with, class attendance.Your safe, appropriate, engagement with yoga is at heart. An initial session represents assessment and exploration of what is possible and appropriate. It is during subsequent sessions that refinement and development of your practice is enabled. The service of yoga is a respectful relationship between the student
and the Teacher. Rather than a mere "customer service", this
relationship is held sacred. The service of yoga that I offer is not a "musculoskeletal therapy" modality. It is above all, a practice; physical yes, and encompassing aspects of balance across the individual on various levels. A student is not a "patient". A yoga practitioner is someone who engages with a personal yoga practice, regularly and consistently. This intensive way of working enables you to learn about and begin to work very specifically with your own scoliosis pattern. A program will be explored and created for your home practice.
